“In 2021, the Cyber Tips to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children doubled in North Carolina,” John begins, “and I got a phone call from the State Bureau of Investigations [saying] ‘We’ve seen a doubling of Cyber Tips… the only variable that we cannot account for is that the pandemic put our kids into virtual learning, virtual learning put them in front of their computers more often, being in front of their computers more often caused them to watch more internet pornography, watching more internet pornography made them easier to groom.'”
It is important now more than ever that parents talk to their children about all the difficult conversations: avoiding explicit content online, sexting, grooming and human trafficking.
