Our young people see millions of porn videos every day – and that’s from the age of seven years. If you doubt me or you think that amount is overstated, ask your children.
If you’re reluctant to ask or receive a tepid answer from your young person, you’ll understand why I’m initiating this campaign.
Most of us parents do not have meaningful conversations with our kids about pornography. Did you know that pornography can be a root cause and hidden gateway to bullying, shaming, hypersexuality, loneliness, depression, and dating violence? It can also lead to a host of other serious problems.
The average age when children in the United States first see this content is 11. That means anywhere between age 8 and 14 is “normal.” Because of this early exposure, most parents wait far too long to discuss this topic with their children and unknowingly allow young people to get their “sex-ed” from porn videos.
The Third Talk is launching a crowdfunding campaign to combat the harm this content causes our young people.
